Friday Harbor 4th, Orcas 6th in Islands Cup - SLIDESHOW added

For the first time in five years Friday Harbor’s high school sailing team were able to sleep in their own beds for an Islands Cup, an annual springtime regatta that rotates around the Salish Sea. The event was held at Roche Harbor, which proved the perfect backdrop for 16 teams from Olympia to Bellingham, and without whose support the event would not have been possible.

Lobos beat Wolverines 142-146 in match at Lopez Island Golf Course

Friday Harbor finally completed its second match of the season after the last three outings were canceled due to bad weather. Lopez Island High School was kind enough to let our team bring 14 players for the day of golf. It’s a great experience to be on the travel squad and get the opportunity to play a different golf course. Lopez came out on top with a score of 142 to Friday Harbor 146. Lopez Senior, Tobin Arden set the pace for the day with a 1 over par 35 on his home course, Lopez Golf Club. Dylan Posenjak was low for the Wolverines with a 46.

FHHS Seniors vs Staff game perfects chaotic fundraising - SLIDESHOW

Friday Harbor High School seniors - with an assist via a bribe - beat the high school staff 65-38 at the annual fundraiser for grad night. The special cheerleading squad blocked shots and did their best to help the seniors. They wowed the crowd with their half-time routine. Timberwolves rally, eliminate Wolverines from state tourney

Friday Harbor built a 13-point first-half lead but Morton/White Pass rallied in the second half for a 48-40 victory at the 2018 State Tournament In Spokane Wednesday, Feb. 28. The Wolverines (15-9) finished their season among Class 2B’s top 12 teams. The Timberwolves (21-6) advance to a quarterfinal against Liberty (21-3) on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

MWP went up 10-6 at the start of the game but Friday Harbor went on a 11-2 run for a 27-14 lead with two minutes to go in the second quarter. The Timberwolves trimmed Wolverines’ lead to 31-23 at the half.

The Timberwolves, who won state hoop titles in 2015 and 2016, continued that momentum in the second half: They outscored the Wolverines 13-5 in the third quarter and 12-4 in the fourth.

In shooting, MWP sank 21 of 42 field-goal attempts for 50 percent. The Wolverines shot 12 for 26 in the first half but went cold in the second half, sinking 4 of 17. They made 37 percent of their shots for the game.

Friday Harbor out-rebounded MWP 13-11 in the first half but the Timberwolves grabbed 19 boards to the Wolverines’ 8 in the second half.

The Wolverine defense limited the Timberwolves’ leading scorer — Matthew Poquette — to 13 points in the first two quarters but he added 15 more in the final two periods for a game-leading 28. Marshall Clark led the Wolverines with 14 and Kyle Mapstead contributed 11.

Red Hot Wolverines storm Spokane in State Championship Game Wednesday Night

The red-hot Friday Harbor High School Wolverines boys basketball put their 10-game winning streak on the line in the first round of the WIAA 2B first round matchup against the Timberwolves of Morton/Whitepass. Friday Harbor girls finish season among state’s best

Tri-Cities Prep defeated Friday Harbor 55-24 in the 2018 Class 2B Girls Basketball State Regional Tournament Saturday, Feb. 24 at Chiawana High School in Pasco. The Wolverines (11-12) finished their season among the 16 best 2B teams and the Jaguars (18-5) earned their first trip to the Hardwood Classic in Spokane.

Friday Harbor boys oust Oroville, advance to Hardwood Classic in Spokane

Friday Harbor junior Marshall Clark dumped in 25 points as the Wolverines ousted Oroville 51-32 in a Class 2B State Regional contest Friday, Feb. 23 at Wenatchee High School. The Wolverines advance in the Hardwood Classic and next face Morton-White Pass in a loser-out game at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

Wolverine girls season ends at regionals

Tri-Cities Prep won 55-24 over Friday Harbor High School girls basketball Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Chiawana High School. The loss at regional play in the 2018 2B Girls Hardwood Classic means the end of the season for the Wolverines. Tri-Cities Prep goes on to the state tournament in Spokane. BRACKET
